Info | Bao Vang was listed in St. Paul/Minneapolis Magazine as one of the top 100 most influential people to watch for in 1999. In 2003 she was name Hmong Today's Woman of the Year. These are major accomplishments for someone who was a refugee from Laos who could not read or write when she came to the U.S. in 1980. With determination, she obtained a BA in Business Administration from the college of St. Catherine and an MA in Public Administration and Management from Hamline University.
Her professional career began as a Bilingual Financial Worker, then she became the Executive Director of the Hmong National Organization and currently she is a Human Services Manager for Ramsey County. She has emerged as an activist and community leader in a culture that does not believe that women need to be educated. She is also a small business owner.
