| Info | A lifelong resident of Camden City, Mr. Sloan-El has represented the people of Camden’s 2nd Ward as their City Councilman since 1995. He serves on the Council’s liaison committees to the Department of Law and is a member of the Administration and Utilities committees. Councilman Sloan-El is a retired Camden County Corrections Officer and formerly worked as a Nursing Aide at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital.
Long active in his community, he is a recipient of the Governor’s Award for Humanitarian Service. He founded the Whitman Park Little League Association in Camden and has been active in the Camden Local Participation & Employment Commission. Sloan-El is a member of the Camden Elks Lodge #83, which has awarded him its Community Service Award. He has been a volunteer youth athletics coach in Camden since the age of 18.
Sloan-El studied at Camden County College, Rutgers University and Norfolk State University in Virginia. He is the father of three children.
