Info | MILLER, George Funston, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Chillisquaque Township, Northumberland County, Pa., on September 5, 1809; attended Kirkpatrick’s Academy in Milton, Pa.; taught school; studied law; was admitted to the bar of Union County May 15, 1833, and commenced practice in Lewisburg; member of the board of curators of the university at Lewisburg (now Bucknell University) 1846-1882; scribe of curators 1847-1851; secretary of the board of trustees of Bucknell University 1848-1864; elected as a Republican to the Thirty-ninth and Fortieth Congresses (March 4, 1865-March 3, 1869); resumed the practice of law; president of the Lewisburg, Centre & Spruce Creek Railroad; died in Lewisburg, Union County, Pa., October 21, 1885; interment in Lewisburg Cemetery.
