Info | Originally from Jersey City, New Jersey, Amanda Green is a Stanton Heights resident who moved to Pittsburgh in 2002 to become assistant general counsel for the United Steelworkers Union. She was appointed to County Council for Council District 13 on March 18, 2008, and will serve until the next municipal election in 2009.
Amanda is an alumnus of Duke University and Northeastern University School of Law. Prior to moving to Pittsburgh, she was a law clerk for the Honorable Lawrence M. Lawson, A.J.S.C. in the Superior Court of New Jersey, Monmouth County. She serves as a mentor with Strong Women Strong Girls, as Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors for Venture Outdoors, and she is a graduate of Leadership Pittsburgh’s Leadership Development Initiative XIII and Leadership OnBoard VIII.
Amanda has also volunteered as a voter-protection lawyer for the Democratic Party for elections in 2004 (Kerry/Edwards) and 2006 (Rendell/Knoll). She was recognized as a Pittsburgh Progressive Woman by the Langston Hughes Poetry Society for Women’s History Month on March 29, 2008.
She clerked for Judge Lawrence M. Lawson of the Superior Court of New Jersey in Monmouth County before moving to Pittsburgh to work for the USW in 2002.
