Info | Rodney is the City of Tucson Ward 2 Council Member and is a graduate of The University of Arizona five times over. He earned his undergraduate degree in Agricultural Economics, his Masters of Business Administration as well as his Masters of Public Administration from the Eller College of Management. In 2005 Rodney completed his PhD in Arid Land Resource Science from The University of Arizona. He has published award-winning research both nationally and internationally in the area of agricultural education and hands-on learning. Just weeks after his election to the Tucson City Council in 2007, Rodney graduated with his J.D. from the James E. Rogers College of Law at The University of Arizona. Rodney joined the Arizona Bar in the summer of 2008.
Professionally, Rodney currently works as a financial advisor at Wachovia Securities, which is owned by Wells Fargo Bank. He has experience in small business and also holds an Arizona Real Estate license. He has consulted in the area of community development, relationship building, and charitable giving for companies in Tucson, and previously served on the Advisory Board for the Bank of Tucson. Rodney served from 2002-2006 as a legislative aide for Congressman Raúl Grijalva, focusing on business and agriculture in the Washington, D.C. and Tucson congressional offices.
Rodney is the founder and President of the Glassman Foundation. A community foundation that raises and contributes over $100,000 annually to local non-profits that serve children. His volunteer experiences include serving on the boards of the Jewish Federation of Southern Arizona, the Catalina Council Boy Scouts of America, the Desert Caucus P.A.C. and the University of Arizona School of Music Advisory Board. Rodney is also an Honorary Board Member of Opening Minds through the Arts (OMA), a program of Tucson Unified School District which infuses arts into the classroom to boost student achievement. Rodney has served on the boards of the American Heart Association, Crime Prevention Council, Pima County Farm Bureau, Arizona State Farm Bureau, Sons of Orpheus Men's Choir, Parent-Aid Child Abuse Prevention Program, The University of Arizona Hillel Foundation, and the Hacienda Del Rio Homeowner's Association.
Rodney is a former University of Arizona Icecat hockey player who also enjoys singing and can often be seen kicking-off UA basketball and football games with his traditional rendition of the National Anthem. Rodney also performs each Christmas at the San Xavier Mission with the Tucson Arizona Boys Chorus. Rodney earned his Eagle Scout rank at age 13 and is committed to teaching children about the importance of helping make the community a better place for everyone.
Rodney's goal is to make Tucson the greatest community to live, to work, and to raise a family!
