InfoPALMER, Henry Wilbur, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Clifford, Susquehanna County, Pa., July 10, 1839; attended Wyoming Seminary, Kingston, Pa., and Fort Edward Institute, Fort Edward, N.Y.; was graduated from the National Law School, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in 1860; was admitted to the bar in Peekskill, N.Y., the same year and in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., in 1861; prothonotary’s clerk in 1861; served in the pay department of the Union Army at New Orleans in 1862 and 1863; member of the constitutional convention of Pennsylvania in 1872 and 1873; attorney general of the State 1879-1883; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-seventh, Fifty-eighth, and Fifty-ninth Congresses (March 4, 1901-March 3, 1907); one of the managers appointed by the House of Representatives in 1905 to conduct the impeachment proceedings against Charles Swayne, judge of the United States Court for the Northern District of Florida; elected to the Sixty-first Congress (March 4, 1909-March 3, 1911); practiced law until his death in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., February 15, 1913; interment in Hollenback Cemetery.
