Info | POLLARD, Ernest Mark, a Representative from Nebraska; born in Nehawka, Cass County, Nebr., April 15, 1869; attended the district school in Nehawka and was graduated from Nebraska State University at Lincoln in 1893; engaged in agricultural pursuits near Nehawka, Nebr.; member of the State house of representatives 1896-1899; president of the Nebraska Republican League in 1900; elected as a Republican to the Fifty-ninth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Elmer J. Burkett; reelected to the Sixtieth Congress and served from July 18, 1905, to March 3, 1909; unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1908 to the Sixty-first Congress; delegate to the Republican National Convention in 1912; member of the State constitutional convention in 1920 and 1921; resumed agricultural pursuits; moved to Lincoln, Nebr., in 1929; appointed secretary of the State department of welfare and labor by Governor Weaver in January 1929 and served until January 1931; died in Lincoln, Nebr., on September 24, 1939; interment in Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Nehawka, Nebr.
