Tobin, of Hartsdale, New York, is a research and management consultant specializing in the high technology industry, and a Member in LIFE Preservers, LLC, a business devoted to recording people's life stories. At Hewlett-Packard, Governor Tobin developed a market research process that enabled cross-functional business teams to gain critical market understanding early on in the product development cycle. Her custom research for IBM's leadership included assessments of corporate identity, organizational branding, channels management, innovation, and corporate culture with a large, global company. As a Senior Research Director at Catalyst she was responsible for an annual census of gender diversity among Fortune 1000 companies and conducted specific studies on topics of leadership development and diversity for corporations such as Microsoft, ITT Industries, and Shell Oil.
Governor Tobin earned her Ph.D. and a Master's degree in Administration & Policy Analysis from Stanford University, a Master of Arts in Teaching degree from the University of Massachusetts, and a Bachelor's degree from Skidmore College. She currently serves on the Advisory Board of MentorNet, an e-mentoring network for women in engineering and science. Governor Tobin is married to Evan Wallach, a Judge of the United States Court of International Trade.
