Info | Raymond Louie was born and raised in east Vancouver, where he lives with his wife Tonya, and their three children.
Raymond was raised with the values of integrity, decency, and hard work. From an early age, Raymond became a constant presence in his parents’ bakery on Commercial Drive.
As a young man, Raymond worked at Mail-O-Matic Services and the Pacific Newspaper Group. That is where Raymond got involved as an activist, working with his union to protect worker’s rights. Raymond eventually became a National Representative for the Communications, Energy and Paperworkers Union of Canada.
Raymond was elected to Vancouver City Council in 2002, and was re-elected in 2005, placing third in the overall council race. During his time on council, he has successfully fought for better transportation options, more affordable housing and improved safety and security for people living in Vancouver. Raymond has also served on the boards of both TransLink and the GVRD.
