Info | Rep. Dale Curtis Whiteside, a Republican, represents Carroll and Livingston counties and part of Linn County (District 7) in the Missouri House of Representatives.
First elected to the House in a special election in 1987, Rep. Whiteside was elected to his fourth consecutive two-year term in 1994. He serves on the following House committees: Agriculture; Appropriations--Education and Public Safety; Correctional and State Institutions; and Public Health and Safety. He also is a member of the Joint Committee on Correctional Institutions and Problems.
In addition to his legislative duties, Rep. Whiteside, a former weather instructor and forecaster in the U.S. Airforce, is a hog, beef and grain farmer.
Rep. Whiteside is the ranking minority member on the Agriculture Committee and on the Correctional and State Institutions Committee. His significant legislative accomplishments include passing bills on the right to farm and livestock research and production facilities protection.
Rep. Whiteside was awarded Most Knowledgeable Freshman Legislator in Agriculture (Caucus Award) 1988; State Friend of Extension by Epsilon Sigma Phi (National Honorary Extension Fraternity) 1990; and University of Missouri College of Agriculture's Citation of Merit 1991.
He is a member of the following organizations: Missouri Chamber of Commerce; Missouri Farm Bureau; Missouri Pork Producers, Missouri Cattleman's Association; Missouri Corn Growers; Missouri Soybean Association; Liberty United Methodist Church of RR2, Chillicothe; Missouri Coalition Against Domestic Violence; American Legion Post 25; Ducks Unlimited; Heritage Foundation; and ALEC.
A 1948 graduate of Chillicothe High School, Rep. Whiteside attended Central Methodist College and received bachelor of science degree in agriculture from the University of Missouri.
Born October 19, 1930, in Chillicothe, Mo., Rep. Whiteside resides there with his wife, Marilou Whiteside. They have four children: ZoAnn, Jeffrey, Bruce, and Steven; and eleven grandchildren.
