Lou has over 20 combined years in healthcare management and as a nurse in the highly specialized area of intensive care. Lou is a mother, wife, nurse, senator, and leader. She is a fighter for what is right. Lou wants to continue being your public servant because of her innate value for human dignity and respect. Her desire to become your public servant is rooted in her passion for doing good and providing a better fife for our people.
As a four-term Senator, Lou has introduced and passed strong legislation intended to improve the health, welfare and social livelihood of the community, especially those who are economically and physically disadvantaged. Her work includes: fighting for [he survival of health insurance and programs for the medically indigent a concerted effort with the Department of Mental Health to expand their substance abuse prevention program
- participating in a private partnership to develop a residential drug rehabilitation program for mothers addicted to drugs and their newborn - fighting for fair and equal pay for Guam's nurses and recognizing the value of their work protecting the interests of the public, especially where tax $$ are concerned Lou believes in a government that is accountable to the. people and strives to provide this belief in legislation she introduces and supports. She will continue to: - work towards a more stable welfare program that will not leave the destitute and the needy without assistance - work collaboratively with Department of Public Health and Social Services and local insurance companies to privatize the Medically Indigent Program to assure that clients receive cost effective and quality health care
