Guam has been home to Senator Larry Kasperbauer for over 35 years.During this time Larry has developed a distinguished record of accomplishments in education, business and service organizations throughout our community.His membership in the Twenty-fourth Guam Legislature adds another chapter to a career dedicated to public service, one he fully appreciates as being entrusted by the people for the common good.Espousing early in life that "Education is the Way," Senator Kasperbauer continued his formal education past the doctoral level.While at Iowa State University, he received his Bachelors of Science in Agricultural Education, his Masters in School Administration and Supervision and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Rural Sociology.He continued with postdoctoral study in Gerontology at the University of Missouri, Colombia and the University of Southern California.At the University of Minnesota he studied Public Policy Education and Social Research Methods.During his tenure at the University of Guam, "Doctor K," as the Senator is fondly known by many, held such leadership positions as Dean of the College of Education, Assistant Vice President, Professor of Sociology and Director of the Community Development Institute.He is currently Professor Emeritus of Sociology at UOG.Most notable among Senator Kasperbauer's long history of community service are his chairmanship of the Territorial Board of Education, member of the Dededo Municipal Planning Council, President of the Rotary Club of Guam, President of the Agana Heights PTA, President of the Guam Girl Scouts Board of Directors, Commissioner of the Guam Youth Football League, President of the Island Rams Football Association, President of the Guam Running Club, Chairman of the Board of the Gugagan (NCS) Family Association and President of the Agana Heights Holy Name Society.At the Regional level, Senator Kasperbauer helped organize and was a charter member of the Association of Pacific Islands Boards of Education.Nationally, the National Association of State Boards of Education elected him as one of five members of its Board of Directors where he represented the entire Western States, Alaska, Hawaii and the Pacific Islands.
