In 1968, the New Party ran a slate of electors which planned to vote for Eugene McCarthy but were not officially pledged to a specific candidate because McCarthy declined their nomination.
They ran in the following states:
Montana: New Reform Party - 470 votes (said they would vote for McCarthy and Paul O'Dwyer if elected)
New Hampshire: New Party - 421 votes (said they would vote for McCarthy and John Lindsay if elected)
Vermont: New Party - 579 votes (said they would vote for McCarthy and Lindsay if elected)
total: 1470 votes
