Info | Paul Hollis has had a passion for rare coins that has spanned nearly three decades. Along with most numismatic scholars, Paul developed a passion for coins at a very early age after receiving a coin from his grandmother. Any allowances or money earned would quickly be exchanged for collectible coins. After graduating from Louisiana State University with a degree in Political Science his post-graduate studies in Russian language took place at Moscow State University. Soon after his return to the United States, Paul began working with Blanchard and Company – one of the nation’s top rare coin firms in New Orleans, Louisiana. After selling coins for several years he became their numismatist or coin expert. Paul was responsible for all of the numismatic education of the 45-person sales team and conducted weekly coin college seminars while attending every major coin convention throughout the United States. Paul has been instrumental in the trades of many of the world’s greatest coins such as the 1913 Liberty Nickel, the 1804 Dollar and the finest known 1907 Ultra High Relief Saint Gaudens. Each one of these exceptional rarities traded well in excess of a million dollars.
Paul has the distinction of being one of the few numismatists to visit and undertake an in-depth of study of each of the United States mints. This accomplishment has taken him across the nation and has broadened his insights tremendously. He is a graduate of the American Numismatic Association study program and has completed all of their training courses. Paul has been interviewed by national and international media and is considered to be an expert in treasure coins. In the winter of 2004, Paul had the opportunity to join the Odyssey Marine Exploration Group and salvage coinage from the SS Republic. This Civil War steamship was hit by a hurricane off the Georgia coast in 1865. While aboard the Odyssey Explorer in the Atlantic Ocean, he was able to witness the recovery of gold coinage that had been lost at sea for over 140 years.
Paul has also hosted “The Coin Vault” which is a nationally televised program on the Shop At Home Network broadcasting to over 60 million homes across the United States. Today, Paul has focused his attention to a very specialized segment of the numismatic marketplace – ancient coins that circulated during the lifetime of Jesus Christ. In traveling extensively throughout Jerusalem and all of the Holy Land, Paul has married his contacts from the rare coin industry to his contacts throughout Europe and the Middle East. As a result of these strong international relationships – Paul is proud to make available some of the most extraordinary coins that the world market has to offer.
