Info | MORROW, John, a Representative from New Mexico; born near Darlington, Lafayette County, Wis., on April 19, 1865; attended the public schools and the normal university; taught school in Wisconsin, Iowa, Nebraska, and New Mexico; superintendent of public schools of Colfax County, N.Mex., 1892-1896; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1895 and commenced practice in Raton, N.Mex.; member of the Territorial house of representatives in 1897 and 1898; city attorney of Raton in 1900 and 1901; president of the board of education 1903-1923; delegate to the Democratic National Convention in 1908; regent of New Mexico Normal University, Las Vegas, N.Mex., in 1921 and 1922; elected as a Democrat to the Sixty-eighth, Sixty-ninth, and Seventieth Congresses (March 4, 1923-March 3, 1929); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1928 to the Seventy-first Congress; engaged in banking, had extensive ranch and livestock holdings, and was a large owner of real estate in Raton; died in Santa Fe, N.Mex., on February 25, 1935; interment in the Fairmont Cemetery, Raton, N.Mex.
