Info | WEST, Milton Horace, a Representative from Texas; born on a farm near Gonzales, Gonzales County, Tex., June 30, 1888; attended the public schools and the West Texas Military Academy at San Antonio; served with Company C, Texas Rangers, in 1911 and 1912; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1915 and began practice in Floresville, Tex.; moved to Brownsville, Tex., in 1917 and continued the practice of law; district attorney for the twenty-eighth judicial district of Texas 1922-1925 and assistant district attorney 1927-1930; member of the State house of representatives 1930-1933; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-third Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of John N. Garner; reelected to the Seventy-fourth and to the six succeeding Congresses and served from April 22, 1933, until his death; chairman, Committee on Elections No. 1 (Seventy-fifth Congress); was not a candidate for renomination in 1948; died in Washington, D.C., October 28, 1948; interment in Buena Vista Cemetery, Brownsville, Tex.
