InfoDavid is a successful CEO, an entrepreneur and activist in Community affairs. David was born in Minneapolis in 1955, the fourth and youngest child of Gerry and Uva Dillon. David grew up in a political household with politics discussed at the family dinner table and with both parents active in the Hubert Humphrey era DFL. David’s father, Gerry, was especially active in party politics running for Mayor of Minneapolis as the DFL candidate in 1957.

David attended the University of Minnesota where he studied chemistry and economics. He graduated in 1979 with a BSB from the University of Minnesota's Carlson School of Business. Immediately following graduation, he joined the family business, The Meyers Printing Companies, Inc..

At Meyers, David brought a commitment to growth and operational excellence through improved technology. Under his direction, the company and its operating divisions grew for two decades to more than eight times their original size and developed a national reputation for best practices. David is also the inventor of the Verify Brand numeric token anti-counterfeit system, an Internet technology that is gaining a worldwide reputation as the best approach to protect pharmaceuticals from counterfeiting.

David has lived in the Third District for the last twenty years, first in Bloomington and now in the Excelsior area. Married for thirty-one years to his wife Kathy, David has three children, Katie, Michael and Sarah. David is a private pilot and an avid reader of history as well as public & economic policy. He has also been active in community affairs as Co Chair of the 2007 Hennepin County Library Technology Task Force, as a participant with the Citizen's League, with the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, as a past board member of the Lupus Foundation and with the Health Fund of Minnesota.
