Info | ELLERBE, James Edwin, a Representative from South Carolina; born in Sellers, Marion County, S.C., January 12, 1867; attended Pine Hill Academy and the University of South Carolina at Columbia; was graduated from Wofford College, Spartanburg, S.C., in 1887; engaged in agricultural pursuits; member of the State house of representatives 1894-1896; delegate to the State constitutional convention in 1895; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-ninth and to the three succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1905-March 3, 1913); unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1912; resumed his agricultural pursuits; died in Asheville, N.C., October 24, 1917; interment in the family burial ground near Sellers, S.C.
