| Info | Barbara Muhammad Sharief is an American nurse and politician. Serving as a Broward County commissioner since 2010, she was appointed mayor from 2013 to 2014, and again from 2016 to 2017. She is the county's first African-American female and Muslim mayor. Sharief is also a former Miramar city commissioner and vice mayor. In 2020, she announced her candidacy for Florida's 20th congressional district in 2022.
