Info | Paul, son of Dawson and Elizabeth Oram, was born in Gander on January 13, 1966. Paul was raised in Glovertown, where he attended Glovertown Academy. After graduation he enrolled in college and was later awarded a diploma in Business Management.
In 1985, Paul married Karen Greenham. They moved to St. John's later that year where Paul joined the marketing branch of a medical company. One year afterwards, with a desire to own and operate his own business, Paul returned home to Glovertown where he started a construction company.
In 1994 Paul received his Funeral Director's licence and in 1996 purchased his first funeral home. Since that time, Paul and Karen's business interests have grown, acquiring an additional funeral home, personal care home facilities, and a travel agency.
Aside from his businesses, Paul has also been active as a volunteer. He has held various positions such as; church appointments, school councilor, trustee with the Central Health Board, as well as Deputy Mayor of Glovertown.
Paul was elected to the House of Assembly as MHA for the Terra Nova District on October 21, 2003. Since being elected he spearheaded the establishment of the Red Tape Reduction Committee, and serves as the committee Chair. Through his extensive business experience, Paul was all too familiar with the unnecessary and burdensome administrative and regulatory requirements often associated with operating a business. This task force has committed to reducing government "red-tape" by 25% over the course of three years. Most recently, Paul has been given the responsibility of overseeing the Fee and Permit Review Office. Both these initiatives demonstrate Paul's commitment to the growth of the provinces economy through the creation and sustainability of business, both large and small. On January 19, 2007 Paul was appointed Parliamentary Assistant to the Premier.
On October 30, 2007, Paul was sworn in as the Minister of Business.
Paul and his wife Karen reside in Glovertown with their two children - Crystal and Victoria.
