Info | James P. Cullen was born March 13, 1949, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of Philip M. and Martha O'Brien Cullen. He graduated from Franklin & Marshall College in 1971 and from Villanova University School of Law in 1974.
He served as law clerk to the Honorable Thomas J. Clary, United States District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania from 1974 to 1975, and as an attorney with the National Labor Relations Board from 1975 to 1977. He was engaged in private practice in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania from 1977 to 1980, and in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, from 1980 to 1992. From 1980 to 1992, he was an assistant public defender in Lancaster County.
Appointed Judge of the Court of Common Pleas, he was sworn in December 1992, and elected in November, 1993.
He is married to MaryAnne Motter and has nine children: Patrick, Martha, Bridget, Bernadette, Theresa, Michael, Joan, Brian, and Francis.
