Info | As Lancaster County’s highest ranking Assistant District Attorney, Heidi has sought justice for thousands of victims in her 20-plus years as a prosecutor and has presented more than 150 cases before Lancaster County juries. She has dozens of criminal homicide cases on her resume and her experience with both criminal and family law earned her a top rating from the Lancaster Bar Association - three times.
Since 1986, Heidi has handled all the adult sexual assault filings for the District Attorney’s Office and, after a two-year collaboration with the YWCA Sexual Assault and Prevention Counseling Center and Lancaster General Hospital, Heidi helped establish the Lancaster County Sexual Assault Forensic Examiner (SAFE) program. This program has helped countless sexual assault victims since it was opened in 1999.
Her most recent accomplishment is Lancaster County’s Organization Allied for Safety Intervention and Support (OASIS), which opened in March 2006 as a direct result of her efforts. This project ensures children who are victims of physical and sexual abuse have a refuge from the predators who would seek to exploit their innocence.
Over the years, Heidi has spoken to numerous groups, agencies and organizations about the impact sexual assault and child abuse have on our community. In 1995, she testified on the subject before state Rep. Katie True’s House Sub-Committee on Child Abuse and Neglect. She has also lectured about the dangers of date rape at Millersville University and Elizabethtown College in an effort to stem sexual violence before it starts.
As a Republican Committee woman, Heidi has served her party since 1998. She stepped down in 2006 after deciding to run for judge. She served on the Republican State Committee from 2002 to 2004 and has volunteered for countless numbers of Republican candidates running for statewide and local posts.
Born and raised in Lancaster County, Heidi has a vested interest in seeing our community thrive with prosperity, cohesive families and safe streets. A graduate of J.P. McCaskey High School, Shippensburg University and the Dickinson School of Law, Heidi now lives in West Donegal Township with her husband, J. Michael Eakin, and son, Chase.
