Info | LICHTENWALNER, Norton Lewis, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born in Allentown, Lehigh County, Pa., June 1, 1889; educated in the public schools, graduating from Allentown High School in 1905 and Bethlehem Preparatory School in 1906; attended Lehigh University, Bethlehem, Pa.; moved to New York City in 1908 and was employed in a banking institution; returned to Allentown, Pa., in 1915 and engaged in the retail furniture business until 1922, then in the retailing of automobiles until 1933; during the First World War enlisted as a seaman in the United States Naval Reserve; elected as a Democrat to the Seventy-second Congress (March 4, 1931-March 3, 1933); unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1932 to the Seventy-third Congress; State director for the Pennsylvania National Emergency Council 1935-1941; State director of Office of Government Reports in 1941 and 1942; engaged in the investment securities business; in 1949 was elected to the Allentown City Council for one term and in 1955 elected treasurer of Lehigh County for one term; died in Allentown, Pa., May 3, 1960; interment in Fairview Cemetery.
