| Info | Born and raised in Springfield, Jim Langfelder grew up in a family of 13 children (seven sisters and five brothers). He received a quality education from Springfield's private and public schools. Langfelder understands the value of education and worked his way through college, obtaining an associate’s degree from Lincoln Land Community College and a bachelor’s degree in management from Sangamon State University - now named the University of Illinois in Springfield.
While in college, Jim worked as an assistant manager opening up Kerasotes' Showplace Theatre at Capital City Shopping Center. He then worked more than two decades in downtown Springfield - first with Black & Company Hardware, then with Illinois National Bank and Security Bank.
In 2003, Jim became the City of Springfield's Treasurer, and received the most votes of any candidate in the city election. He was re-elected in 2007 and 2011.
