Info | Roberto Maldonado became the first Puerto Rican elected to the Cook County Board of Commissioners since its inception in 1831. He proudly serves the people of the 8th District, comprised of more than 320,000 residents on Chicago’s Near Northwest side.
He is Chair of both the Real Estate and the Law Enforcement Committees of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County and Chair of the Cook County & Cermak Hospitals Committee of the Board of Commissioners. In addition to his duties as Chair, he also serves as a member of these subcommittees: Business & Economic Development, Contract Compliance, Labor, Real Estate, Department of Corrections, Health & Hospitals, Finance, Zoning & Building, Roads & Bridges, Health & Hospitals , Finance, Zoning & Building, Roads & Bridges
He began his first term in 1994 and won his re-election in 1998 with 65% of the vote. He also serves as Democratic Committeeman of the 26th Ward.
