Info | Born October 14, 1954 in Florence, South Carolina. Son of Mrs. Earles R. Mitchell. After staying in Florence until a little after his first birthday, his mother Earles moved to Baltimore, Maryland. George graduated from Lexington Terrace Elementary. Graduated the ninth grade from Pimlico Jr. High in Northwest Baltimore. Also, 1972 graduate of Mergenthaler Vocational Technical High School in East Baltimore, an industrial electronics major. Mr. Mitchell had many honors as a high school student. He was Captain of the varsity football and wrestling teams, and a member of the championship track team. He also received Senior of the year award, most likely to succeed award, Baltimore Rotary Club Boy of the year award, Baltimore Optimist Club outstanding youth award, first student in United States to be elected and serve on a school board,1971 Outstanding Teenagers of America Award (Oprah Winfrey also received this award for the state of Tennessee) and numerous other awards and citations to include Morgan State University Scholarship. Upon entering Morgan State University in 1972 (class of 1976) George became a two time MEAC wrestling champion, member Morgan State University Football Team and a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity in which he was elected as the Associate Eastern Reginal Director.
After Morgan State, George opened his own business and eventually was a member of the United States Armed Services. George also received several awards in the U.S. Army. While in the Army he also obtained a degree from St. Leo College. After the Army George returned to the business world where he owned and operated several restaurants and held many senior management positions. Mr. Mitchell eventually migrated from Virginia back to Maryland where he continued his involvement in the restaurant business. Mr. Mitchell was one of the first African Americans to be partner/manager with the Golden Corral Franchise.
Mr. Mitchell has been for the last several years and still is a licensed Realtor for the State of Maryland and Washington D.C. A Certified Residential Specialist (CRS). Mr. Mitchell is also enrolled as a student for his GRI (Graduate of the Real Estate Institute) to become an associate broker and GRI certification. Mr. Mitchell now works for Sawyer and Associates Real Estate Inc. in Temple Hills, Maryland.
George has a wonderful family. He is married to Rosalind Mitchell and has five magnificant children, Nicole, George jr. , Travis, Joshua and Andrea. He and his wife have an abundance of grandchildren: Sidney, Ryan, Jacob, Anna, Joshua and Emma Rose. George is also blessed to have a close family: Sister-Anetia, Neice-Lytonya Richards and husband Xavier, Grand nephews-London and Lance, in-laws Crystal, Michael, and many other relatives. George a friendly guy, with a million dollar smile will always leave a positive lasting impression.
