ABOUT STEVE
Steve Greenberg, 36, a successful businessman from Long Grove, IL., comes from the great American tradition of citizens who want to improve the lives of their families and neighbors through government service. As a Member of Congress, Steve will focus on reforming Washington, cutting taxes, making government more efficient, and keeping our families safe. He will protect and preserve the values that make our nation the beacon of liberty around the world.
SUCCESSFUL BUSINESSMAN
Steve was at the forefront of a successful organization that helped small business retailers across the country. At Promotions Unlimited, a family company, Steve grew the customer base from 1,000 to 5,500 stores nationwide. He also is owner of Herr’s Pacific, a distributor of art materials and craft supplies in Danville, IL. Through his work as entrepreneur, Steve has helped create thousands of jobs and seen first-hand how government policies can positively and negatively affect small businesses. Steve serves on the board of the Americans for Prosperity, a pro-jobs and pro-growth national organization.
A PROFESSIONAL ATHLETE
Steve is a former professional hockey player who played several years for a Washington Capitals-affiliated minor league team. Steve’s discipline, determination and teamwork on the ice will help shape him to be a leader for change in Congress.
A PASSION TO SERVE
While attending the 1992 Republican National Convention, Steve was inspired by former President Ronald Reagan’s vision and optimism. He believes strongly that we must encourage the independent dreamer—the men and women who built this country and continue to ensure its dynamic growth. Steve has served as a member of the Illinois Republican Party Finance Committee and as a Republican Precinct Committeeman. In the course of serving others politically, he realized that in Congress his passion and energy would bring much needed change to Washington.
A FAMILY MAN
Steve and his wife, Kristine, have been married for 14 years and have three children, Tyler, 12; Claire, 11; and Jack, 8. “Like most of my neighbors, this is what motivates me most—my family. I want to leave this nation a better place than I found it for my kids.” Steve is active as a youth hockey coach and supports various youth-oriented programs. He and Kristine are founders of the Locker Room Foundation, which provides families of fallen soldiers with financial assistance.
A VISION FOR THE 8TH DISTRICT
“I’ve watched as voters’ everyday concerns are ignored by the political insiders. We need new leadership in Washington. I’ll be an independent voice for the 8th district who won’t be changed by the siren call of Washington power brokers and insiders. I’ll lead the fight to change Congress—so the peoples’ business actually gets done. At all times, I’ll work to empower people because they own the government, not the politicians.”
