"Chief Deputy Eric Weaknecht has been a member of the Berks County Sheriff's Office for the past 22 years. He started as a deputy sheriff in 1984 assigned to the Court Division. In his years as a deputy sheriff he was assigned to the Court Division and the Service of civil process, including Levies.
In 1996 Eric was promoted to the rank of Assistant Chief Deputy in charge of the Court Division. His duties included the direct supervision of 28 deputies as well as handling all the out-of-county transports, Juvenile transports/Juvenile court and all the maintenance of the Sheriff's Office fleet of Vehicles.
In 1999 Eric was promoted the rank of Chief Deputy where he is currently serving. His duties are to assist the Sheriff in the overall operation of the Berks County Sheriff's Office as well as maintaining the budget and all the purchasing for the department. He is also the direct supervisor of the 5 Assistant Chief Deputies. Chief Weaknecht also developed and maintains most of the computer applications that are currently being used in the Berks County Sheriff's Office, he is also responsible for the computer training within the Sheriff’s Office.
Chief Weaknecht is also the co-founder and creator of ID Me, a child identification program. So far the program has provided thousand of child ID's since its inception in the Fall of 2003."
