Info | SHULL, Joseph Horace, a Representative from Pennsylvania; born at Martins Creek, Northampton County, Pa., August 17, 1848; attended the public schools and Blair Hall, Blairstown, N.J.; took a special course at Lafayette College, Easton, Pa.; was graduated from the University of New York and in 1873 from the Bellevue Hospital Medical College, both in New York City; taught in the public schools of Pennsylvania for four years; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1879 and commenced practice in Stroudsburg, Monroe County, Pa.; editor of the Monroe Democrat 1881-1886; member of the State senate 1886-1891; elected as a Democrat to the Fifty-eighth Congress (March 4, 1903-March 3, 1905); unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1904; resumed the practice of law and medicine; was a contract surgeon during the First World War; died in Stroudsburg, Pa., August 9, 1944; interment in Stroudsburg Cemetery.
