InfoA native son of Pittsburgh’s working class South Oakland neighborhood, Kevin was raised by his mother, a hospital nurse, along with his two brothers. His family’s tradition of service was first modeled by his grandfather, a Battalion Chief with the Pittsburgh Fire Bureau, and carried out by uncles who served as rank and file firefighters and police officers throughout greater Pittsburgh. Kevin’s youngest brother currently serves as a Pennsylvania State Police Trooper.

Kevin graduated with honors from Central Catholic High School and earned scholarships to Harvard where he played defensive end for the Crimson football team, while completing undergraduate work in government and economics. He then served Tom Ridge in the governor’s Washington, D.C. office, while earning a degree from Georgetown Law.

After returning home to Pittsburgh, Kevin joined the law firm of Morgan, Lewis and Bockius LLP [Link] to represent some of the leading job creators and entrepreneurs in the Pittsburgh region. As vice-chair for the firm’s pro bono committee, he’s been an advocate for abused women, homeless citizens, non-profit organizations and minority business owners.

Kevin and his wife Erica live in Squirrel Hill with their two young boys, Teddy and George. The Acklins are parishioners at St. Paul Cathedral in Oakland. Kevin performs volunteer and leadership roles is numerous community and faith based organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, the Economic Club of Pittsburgh and the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
