Info | Don was born in Kipling and raised on the family farm near Langbank. Don attended the University of Sask and the Full Gospel Bible Institution in Eston, where he graduated with a three-year diploma. Prior to his political career, Don has served on the boards of Langbank Co-op, People’s Church of Kipling, R.M. Council of Silverwood, Kipling Hospital, Pipestone Home Care, Langbank Recreation, and Kennedy Library.
Don was first elected to represent Moosomin constituency in the 1986 general election, and served as the Legislative Secretary to the Minister of Health and as chairman of Crown Corporations Committee. He was re-elected in 1991, 1995, 1999, and 2003, and served as chairman of the Special Committee on Regulations and Opposition Critic for Justice. As one of the founding members of the Sask Party, Don has served as the Opposition’s Deputy House Leader and Deputy Whip.
Don is currently the Opposition Critic for Corrections and Public Safety and Deputy Critic for Culture, Youth and Recreation. Don’s critic duties have included Community Resources and Employment, Environment, Health, Highways, Investment Saskatchewan, Labour, PSC, and Crown Corporations Committee. He also served on the Special Committee to Prevent the Abuse and Exploitation of Children Through the Sex Trade.
Aside from his political duties, Don keeps himself involved in the local camp board and quartet singing.
Don and his wife Lois continue to run the family’s mixed farming operation in Langbank. They have three children: Byron, Graham, and Stephanie.
