Info | Ben was born and raised in Waldheim, Saskatchewan. He attended Caronport Bible School and the University of Saskatchewan, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Education. Following the completion of his schooling, Ben taught in both the rural school system and city collegiate system for 22 years, including 14 years in school administration.
Ben has kept very active in his community serving on church boards, army cadets, Seager Wheeler Farm Committee, and the Community Bond Corporation. Ben was also a former partner in a farm equipment dealership and currently owns a lumberyard in Rosthern.
Ben’s political career began when he served as Town Councillor and was then elected Mayor of Rosthern in 1988. Ben was elected to the Provincial Legislature in 1995 and served as the Opposition Critic for Education, Municipal Affairs, and Sask Liquor and Gaming Authority. Ben was one of the founding members of the Saskatchewan Party. Ben served as Chair of the Saskatchewan Party Caucus and was a member of the Special Committee on Regulations.
Ben passed away on September 24, 2006 following a battle with prostate cancer.
