Info | Michael was born in North Battleford, Sask on August 26, 1948. He grew up on the farm at Maidstone. Michael’s background is that of farming, business, and accounting. Michael attended St Thomas College, North Battleford; Lakeland College, Vermilion, AB; and received his Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Commerce degrees from the University of Alberta.
Michael combined grain farming (Chisholm Farms, a fourth-generation family farm) and accounting for the last 26 years. He worked with A.M. Alm Chartered Accountants and Brannick and Blanchard CGA’s in Lloydminster until his retirement in June 2003. Michael’s entry into politics began in 2003 when he successfully ran for the Sask Party in the new Cut Knife-Turtleford riding.
Michael was elected to the Legislative Assembly in the general election on November 5, 2003 and is the Western Economic Cooperation Critic and Deputy Critic of IT Office. He has served as Vice-Chair of the Human Services Committee, currently serving on the Public Accounts Committee.
Michael and Heather have three sons: Ian James, Bradley, and Stephan; as well as three grandchildren. Michael enjoys farming and golf.
