Info | Bhagwan "Bob" Dashairya earned a Bachelor of Science degree in mathmatics from the Allahabad University in Allahabad India and a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Banaras Hindu University in Banaras, India. He has a Master of Science and a PhD in engineering sciences from the University of Mississippi and a Master of Business Administration from Davenport University in Dearborn, Michigan.
He currently heads up Dashairya & Associates, a management consultant firm and serves as executive director of the Council of Organizations of Asian Indians in Michigan (COAIM), which serves 54,000 residents speaking at least 18 different languages.
No stranger to community service, this Westland resident has been involved in a wide variety of organizations dating back 30 years, everything from being a delegate to the White House conference on Indo-U.S. relations in 1963, to serving as a member of the race relations committee with New Detroit, Inc., an organization developed in 1967 after the riots to membership on the Arab-American Anti-Discrimination Committee.
In 2004 he had a chance to have an impact on an issue that has been increasingly in the public awareness; the accessibility of affordable health care. He was one of 25 people appointed to the Provider Advisory Committee of the recently formed Detroit Wayne County Health Authority (DWCHA). It's one of two committees in the DWCHA charged with finding alternatives for uninsured residents throughout Waytne County.
"Bob" has served in a variety of positions in Westland. He served for more than a decade on the Westland Economic Development Corporation (EDC) as a commissioner and on the board of directors. He was a member of the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) board when it formed in 1996. He also helped out on the Building Improvement Team for the Wayne-Westland School District. In the past he's sought public office on the Westland City Council, Wayne County Commission, and ran for mayor of the City of Dearborn before he moved to the Westland community.
