InfoWolfgang Larrazábal (March 5, 1911 - February 27, 2003) was President of Venezuela in 1958. Commander of the Navy and president of the Governing body in 1958, as soon as the overthrown of Marcos Pérez Jiménez, in January 23, 1958.

Son of Fabio Larrazábal and Jerónima Ugueto, made his first studies in the Pestalozzi Institute of Maracaibo. Later, he entered in the Naval school (1928-1932). Between the years 1942-1945, was captain of the armed ships General Urdaneta, the Leandro and the Soublette, was commander of the Naval Base of Puerto Cabello, is named commander of the Armed Forces (July 1947) and in 1949 naval attache of the embassy of Venezuela in Washington DC. Director of the National Institute of sports (1952-1955) and of the Circle of the Armed Forces (1957-1958), soon assumes the position of subinspector of the Naval Forces, and commander of the Navy from January 2, to January 23 of 1958.

After the overthrow of Marcos Pérez Jiménez, he was in charge of the Governing body from January 23, 1958 to November 14, 1958, becoming a charismatic and popular leader, due to the measures implemented during his government, in a individual Plan of Emergency or Extraordinary Work Plan. Presidential candidate of the Unión Republicana Democrática (URD), Partido Comunista de Venezuela (PCV) and Movimiento Electoral Nacional Independiente (MENI), in the elections of 1958, manages to obtain 903479 votes, occupying the second place behind Rómulo Betancourt. Retired of the active service in the Armed Forces, was ambassador of Venezuela in Chile (1959-May, 1969), appears again like presidential candidate by the parties Frente Democrático (FDP) and MENI in the elections of 1963, managing to obtain only 9,43% of the suffrages that finally would be favor to Raúl Leoni. Later he was chosen parliamentary in several occasions.
