| Info | I was born in South Minneapolis to Wayne and Bev Langerud. Along with my sister Tracy we lived in several cities of Minnesota while growing up. I started school while living in Austin, Minnesota. We moved to Brooklyn Center as I was entering 3 rd grade. We stayed there until my parents bought a house in Coon Rapids the summer before 8 th grade. It was there that I finished high school and spent the rest of my formative years (my parents still live in the same house).
After graduating high school I spent a year working as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for Health East Transportation. The following fall I enrolled as a freshman at Gustavus Adolphus College. During my four years at Gustavus I completed a major in Nursing and a minor in English. I also continued to work as an EMT for the St. Peter Community Hospital Ambulance service.
Following college I had the opportunity to work in several industries in and out of health care. Some of these are:
A high school teacher for a health career pathways program
Airline operations for a charter airline
Computer software conversion for a national home health company
As a critical care nurse for a neonatal intensive care
A emergency room nurse for a large trauma center in Los Angeles, CA and for a north metro hospital in Minnesota
Large event production to raise money for Breast Cancer and AIDS
A member of the development team for an electronic medical record for a Minnesota hospital chain
Currently, I am the nurse manager of the emergency department and short stay unit at a Minneapolis hospital. Also in 2005 I finished my Master’s of Business Admistration at the University of Minnesota’s Carlson School of Management.
Together with my wife, Tina, and my first daughter Ainsley, we have lived in Anoka since returning to Minnesota in 2002. After our second daughter was born we moved to Ramsey during the summer of 2005.
