| Info | Michael E. "Mike" Gronstal
Mike Gronstal, from Council Bluffs, has been the Senate Democratic Leader since 1997. First elected to office in 1982, Gronstal served one term in the Iowa House (1983-85), and is currently in his sixth term in the Senate. He serves as the chairperson of the Senate Rules and Administration Committee.
Gronstal is a graduate of Council Bluffs St. Albert High School. He attended Loyola University in Chicago, and holds his degree from Antioch College in Ohio.
Gronstal and his wife, Connie, have two daughters: Kate, an engineer in Council Bluffs, and Sara, a graduate student at Mankato State University in Mankato, Minnesota.
