Info | Who is Mike Aloisi and what’s this META plan he keeps talking about? Sonoran News became acquainted with Aloisi last month at the Southwest Conference on Illegal Immigration, Border Security and Crime.
Aloisi introduced himself as “Future U.S. Senator.” It’s even printed on his stationary right above his return address.
He’s taking on Sen. Jon Kyl, R-Ariz., calling himself an “independent Republican,” and “U.S. Senate Sea Biscuit.” Aloisi claims to have the solution to the Middle East crisis. He calls it the Middle East Treaty Alliance (META) and said, “Instead of cutting and running, we need to get out with honor.” He sent his META plan to Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice with a copy to President Bush.
After giving them six months to get around to reading the two-page proposal, he followed up with some phone calls.
He says he has made it as far as the presidential Chief of Staff Andy Card’s office.
“Here’s how it would work,” Aloisi said, “Seven countries, e.g. Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Israel, Jordan, Pakistan, Iraq and even Syria and/or Iran would be akin to NATO. One big difference – we are out of it!” Aloisi thinks Egypt’s President Hosni Mubarek should chair the alliance because of Egypt’s central location.
He said the META countries should be required to send troops into battle in the Middle East or the United States cuts off funding totally.
He said his plan would replace the United Nations, which he refers to as the “outdated political zoo.” According to Aloisi, it would also show us who our allies really are.
“Israel should never have given up the land they won,” said Aloisi, saying it will never end the war. “If anything,” he said, “the area Israel gave up should have been declared a neutral zone.” The idea behind META is to put the Middle East countries on firm notice to start policing and protecting themselves, which would allow America to concentrate on its own hemisphere, which Aloisi says is enough to do.
Aloisi says the time has come in our country’s history for a candidate who is by and for the people and quoted one of his favorite presidents, Andrew Jackson, who said, “One man with courage makes a majority.” With his priorities well sorted, Aloisi said, “America first, Arizona second, Aloisi third,” except during the primaries.
