Info | Growing up on a farm, a native of the Annapolis Valley, Paula Lunn attended rural elementary and secondary schools in Canning prior to completing grade twelve at Windsor Regional High School. As a proponent of lifelong learning, Paula is in the process of completing the National Program in Fundraising Management, which she adds to her education in human resources, technical, customer service, management, adult training and facilitation.
Paula’s commitment to the community is evident. She is currently Vice-President of the Association of Fundraising Professionals for Nova Scotia, Victory Credit Unions Audit Committee member, and Chair for the Zwicker Lake Upper Vaughan’s Hants County Association. Paula has also volunteered for the West Hants Community Health Board, several non-violence committees, Windsor United Baptist Church, and was Vice President and Treasurer of the Windsor Nursery School. Paula is finishing her term as Chair of the Canadian Volunteer Initiative Youth Strategy for Nova Scotia and has consistently demonstrated her commitment to youth and youth activity by volunteering in schools, coaching, and as a member of the Valley Active Kids, Healthy Kids and Valley Active Community committee.
After taking time to raise her family, Paula joined the business community in the recreation industry. After several years of working throughout the Atlantic Provinces as Retail Manager and Trainer, she pursued a career in the not-for-profit sector. Prior to her current position as Coordinator of Volunteer Development for the Canadian Cancer Society-Nova Scotia Division, Paula served as the Fundraising Coordinator to the Hants Community Hospital Foundation. For the past eighteen years, Paula has been an elected member of the Hants West District and the Annapolis Valley Regional School Boards, for which she received the Long Service Award from the Nova Scotia School Boards Association.
Paula has spent her life working locally, provincially and federally, following her belief that when people have the resources they need to achieve their goals, the broader community is certain to benefit. From her role as a School Board member, the many organizations for which she volunteers to her role at the Canadian Cancer Society-Nova Scotia Division, dedication to community is a way of life for Paula.
A mother of two children, Faylene, 26 and Johnathan, 22, Paula knows first-hand the importance of building a strong community for families. She and her husband John raised both their children in Windsor Forks, Hants County.
