Graduated as Salutatorian from Fairview High School

1960
B.A. from St. Bernard College with major in chemistry and minor in mathematics Attended college on basketball scholarship, in essence, “running his way through college”

1960-68
Math teacher at Fairview School. Taught Jr. High math, trigonometry, and calculus. Also, drove school bus, taught adult education courses at night, and was a basketball official for the Alabama High School Athletic Association

1968
Master’s Degree in School Administration and Finance, Athens State University

1968-70
Established a mathematics curriculum for vocational/technical courses at Wallace State, Hanceville.

1971-91
Five term elected Superintendent of Cullman County Schools. Retired July 1, 1991, after 20 years as Superintendent

1994-98
Worked for the State Department of Education as a consultant to school superintendents all across the state. Consultant for fixed assets and inventory control, school construction, curriculum, school finance, and numerous other areas of education

1996-97
Recommended by then State Superintendent of Education Ed Richardson and appointed by the State Board of Education to specifically spearhead the state takeover of the Wilcox County school system due to financial mismanagement. Presented with a special appreciation award by Governor Fob James, for his dedication, invaluable services, and untiring efforts in restoring financial integrity to the school system. Left Wilcox County Schools with a $1.3 million operating balance.
