Info | George Brown is 56 years old and is married to Evarn Snell. He is a life long resident of Augusta. They have five beautiful children Deidre, DeVonya, DeMario, Denisha, DeAndra and one grandchild, Jayce. Evarn is a Middle Grades Special Education Teacher.
George is an Economic Business Consultant and Director of External Affairs for Acsential, Inc. George also is an active member of Antioch Baptist Church of Augusta and serves on the Deacons Ministry.
Education
George is a 1966 graduate of Lucy C. Laney High School. He attended Knoxville College, where he received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science in 1970. In 1973, George received a Juris Doctor degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law.
Work Experience
George has taught various classes in the School of Business Administration at Paine College in Augusta, GA. He served as Executive Secretary and Director of Employee Relations for Ronlyn Corporation of Augusta. While, with Ronlyn Corporation he served on the Board of Directors and was responsible for total human resource management for more than five hundred employees.
George was the founder and president of Pro-Mark Associates, Inc. For the past ten years, George has worked progressively with Georgia firms seeking to engage in bi-lateral trade and international business opportunities. He is a certified International Trade Educator.
Public Service
George Brown has served his community as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Wiley Drayton Day Care Center, he served on the Committee to Save Our School, CSRA Agency on Aging Advisory Board, Augusta Conference on Black Lawyers and Associates, ESAA II Advisory Committee to the Richmond County Board of Education, as a member of the Young Democrats of Georgia and the Voter’s Organization for Total Effective (VOTE). He also served on many other civic and social organizations including his recent service to the Augusta Economic Development Initiative as a community representative.
In 1982, George was elected to Georgia General Assembly. As a State Representative, he served on the Industrial Relations, Insurance and Regulated Beverages committees. He also served as Chairman on the Sub-committee on Economic Development for the Georgia Legislative Black Caucus.
He supported economic development, tax relief for all citizens, and innovate programs to improve the quality of life for all Georgians. George will continue do the same for use in the Georgia State Senate.
During his tenure in the Georgia General Assembly, George led the effort to move local families from the Savannah Place Subdivision. In 1989, he was named Georgia Environmental Legislator of the Year. He authored Georgia Right to Know Law which provides protection to all public employees from Hazardous Chemicals and Materials in the Workplace. He also authored the World Bank’s African Development Bank Bill for Georgia. In 1997, George received the State Nation Builder Award from the National Conference on Black State Legislators for his outstanding work in Economic Development.
