InfoJoe was born in Morton, Cochran County, Texas, in 1952. The grandson of cotton farmers and small business owners, he credits his dad with teaching him how to work. His mother was a retired schoolteacher who taught school in Morton, Muleshoe and Bovina.
Joe and his wife, Linda, have lived in Crosbyton for ten years. They are active members of First Baptist Church.

Joe graduated from South Plains College and Texas Tech School of Law. In law school he served on the editorial board of the Texas Bank Lawyer and as a research assistant for the Farm, Ranch, Agri-Business Bankruptcy Institute. He received his bachelors degree from Eastern New Mexico University, in Portales, where he studied agriculture and business.
Joe was a member of the National Intercollegiate Rodeo Association and traveled with the ENMU Rodeo Team. He put himself through school by working on ranches, feedlots, and shoeing horses.

Joe has served as the Master of Ceremonies for The Cowboy Gathering in Crosbyton since it began. He frequently volunteers his talent as an auctioneer to assist high school bands and other groups with fundraisers. He is concerned about the interests of our senior citizens and has helped them by carrying their petitions to Austin and by speaking to them about scams targeting the elderly.
