| Info | Otis has worked in numerous positions requiring essential skills and leadership abilities. He has worked with documents which consist of mortgages, tax shelters, contracts, affidavits, insurance policies and more.
Otis was a standout point guard for the University of Memphis from 1978-82 where he earned his BA. Otis, determined to succeed, earned his MBA while managing his own business, working a full-time job and providing quality family time.
In 2000 Otis ran as an independent for Shelby County Register. In 2002 he ran in the democratic primary and won the democratic nomination. However, in the general election, he was defeated for Shelby County Register. In 2006 Otis won the democratic primary for Shelby County Clerk and lost in the general election by less than 300 votes. He is currently seeking to win the democratic primary nomination as the Shelby County General Sessions Court Clerk on February 5, 2008 and needs your vote.
Otis volunteered for several years as a basketball coach for AAU Jr. Olympics, a volunteer assistant coach for the University of Memphis, a basketball coach for the Jewish Community Center, an advocate for St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., a spokesperson for the Sickle Cell Foundation Radio-Thon, a Life Blood Donor, participates in golf tournaments benefiting the Dream Factory, Steven Lowe Foundation, and the Hank Aaron Celebrity Classic, served on the Democratic Executive Committee from 2002-2004, the St. Jude ALSAC Committee, and served as guest speaker at several banquets/events.
Today, at the age of 47, Otis is the devoted husband of Janie. They are the proud parents of two sons (James and Brandon), a daughter (Janiel), a daughter-in-law (Lizzeth), and two grandsons (Jaylin and Jaycob).
