Info | HOBART, Aaron, a Representative from Massachusetts; born in Abington, Mass., June 26, 1787; pursued classical studies and was graduated from Brown University, Providence, R.I., in 1805; studied law; was admitted to the bar in 1809 and commenced practice in Abington; moved to Hanover in 1811; member of the State house of representatives in 1814 and served in the State senate in 1819; moved to East Bridgewater in 1824; elected as a Republican to the Sixteenth Congress to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Zabdiel Sampson; reelected as a Republican to the Seventeenth Congress, elected as an Adams-Clay Republican to the Eighteenth Congress, and reelected as an Adams candidate to the Nineteenth Congress, and served from November 24, 1820, to March 3, 1827; declined to be a candidate for renomination in 1826; executive councilor 1827-1831; judge of probate 1843-1858; died in East Bridgewater, Mass., September 19, 1858; interment in Central Cemetery.
