Info | Deborah Goldberg cares passionately about Massachusetts; and she has the right mix of skills, experience, and dynamism to be the Lieutenant Governor candidate, who will enhance a strong Gubernatorial ticket - a ticket that will win the 2006 election. The fifth generation of her family to live here, she feels deeply it is time for our state to renew its focus on its people. Deborah believes we need leadership that represents the folks who live, work, and raise their families in Massachusetts; those who want their children and their children’s children to have the opportunity to stay and build meaningful, productive lives in our home state.
Deborah Goldberg graduated from the Brookline Public Schools, and received her B.A. in American Studies from Boston University in 1975. After working in the retail sector for five years, she then returned to school. Deborah earned her J.D. from Boston College Law School in 1983 and M.B.A. from Harvard Business School in 1985. Since then she has devoted her energies to business, charitable activities, her family and public service. Deborah was elected to Brookline’s Board of Selectmen in 1998 and served for six years, the last two as Chairman – a position that charged her with the responsibility of the town’s $190 million budget. Under her leadership, in tough times, Brookline maintained a strong financial position, and was able to add police and firefighters every single year; implement public health, clean environment, and affordable housing programs; and develop small business and commercial area support systems, among other important initiatives.
Deborah has been actively involved with numerous philanthropic activities, including: Adoptions With Love, The Grow Clinic, The 100 Club, Planned Parenthood League of MA, Brookline Music School, The Center for Adult Lifelong Learning at Jewish Vocational Service, and The Combined Jewish Philanthropies. She lives in Brookline with her husband, Michael Winter, and their children, Evan and Meredith.
