InfoJim Stevenson is 46 years old and lives in New Lenox with his wife Lynn. Jim has three sons age 23, 18 and 17 and two stepchildren, aged 19 and 16. Prior to moving to New Lenox, Jim lived in Crete, Illinois for sixteen years. Jim was raised near 178th and Wentworth in Lansing, Illinois. His father worked for at Inland Steel Company for 42 years.

Jim Stevenson is a graduate of St. Ann grammar school in Lansing and Bishop Noll Institute in Hammond, Indiana. After graduating High School, Jim attended the University of Cincinnati. Jim went to work as a masonry laborer and as a steelworker at Inland Steel and Interlake Steel from 1972 to 1976, where he was a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local 1010. While working in the steel mills, Jim attended night school and earned an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement from Calumet College in 1974. He also earned his Emergency Medical Technician training from St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights.

Jim became a police officer in Flossmoor, Illinois in June 1976. Stevenson took paramedic training and earned his paramedic certification in January 1977. While working as a police officer, Jim attended night school at Governor's State University. In 1980, Jim began night law school at ITT/Chicago-Kent College of Law. He earned his law degree in 1984 and began working as prosecutor in the Cook County State's Attorney's Office in November, 1984 where he earned his way into prosecuting serious criminals in the Felony Trial Division. In 1988, Jim entered private law practice in Joliet. In 1995, Jim began his solo law practice, where he continues to work today. He also teaches health care law in the Masters Degree program at the University of St. Francis.

Jim Stevenson has dedicated much of his life to public service and helping his community. While living in Crete, Jim served on the Crete Zoning Board of Appeals and was a member of the Crete Volunteer Fire Department. Jim serves as the Attorney for the Village of Crete. Jim also was President of the Crete Baseball and Softball Association, volunteer soccer coach for the Crete Park District, football coach of the Wilmington Bobcats (1992 South Division Champions) and a volunteer baseball coach in the New Lenox Baseball Association.
