Info | Welcome!
As a candidate, people will always ask me, "Why are you running for Tempe City Council?"
My answer is simple. I have a unique combination of experience and a deeply rooted desire to serve. I believe Tempe needs reliable, honest, and hard working councilmembers and I am that type of individual. I will devote my time, experience, and energy while respecting our community and responding to our needs. I will work closely with the business community and Arizona State University to continue Tempe’s long tradition as one of the best cities in the nation.
My name is Shana Ellis and I thank you for taking the time to visit my campaign web site.
My family is tied to Tempe in many ways. My father graduated from Arizona State College in 1953. He was student body vice-president and later worked at ASU for 30 years as General Manager of KAET Channel 8, as an Associate Professor, and as an Associate Vice President. My mother and my sister were born in Phoenix and each have degrees from ASU. I was raised in Tempe and attended elementary and high schools in Tempe.
I have two ASU degrees including a Master’s in Public Administration. I have worked for the Tempe Community Council, an independent non-profit agency for 20 years. During that period I have worked closely with the City of Tempe. I have attended City Council meetings and have worked with city staff on numerous projects.
