Info | SINCLAIR, James Herbert, a Representative from North Dakota; born near St. Marys, Ontario, Canada, October 9, 1871; moved with his parents to Cooperstown, Griggs County, N.Dak., in 1883; attended the public schools and was graduated from Mayville (N.Dak.) State Normal School; superintendent of schools of Cooperstown, N.Dak., 1896-1898; register of deeds of Griggs County 1899-1905; organized the First National Bank of Binford and served as cashier 1905-1908; moved to Kenmare, Ward County, in March 1908; engaged in agricultural pursuits and in the real estate business; member of the State house of representatives 1915-1919; elected as a Republican to the Sixty-sixth and to the seven succeeding Congresses (March 4, 1919-January 3, 1935); unsuccessful candidate for renomination in 1934; Republican member of the Special Mexican Claims Commission 1936-1939; died in Miami, Fla., September 5, 1943; the remains were cremated and the ashes deposited under a red flowering hibiscus on the grounds of his home.
