Founder of Guam’s first locally-owned newspapers, the Guam Daily News and the Territorial Sun; and financial institutions, Guam Savings and Loan Association and Marianas Finance Corporation. He also founded Guam’s first insurance company, Pacific American Insurance Company, and airlines, Guam Air Lines (both now non-existent). Joseph Flores was the first individual of Guamanian descent to be recommended for appointment as a Governor of Guam, a position he served from 1959-1961.
