Career: Owner and operator of Big John’s Restaurant and Catering Service, 1316 Schuylkill Ave., since 1972; former welder for Arco Pipeline; Korean War veteran.

Education: Graduated Reading High School 1948.

Political experience: In the May 1994 primary election he ran unopposed for the Republican nomination for state representative of District 126. He lost in November to Democrat Dante Santoni Jr. In the April 1996 primary he was one of four Republicans seeking the nomination for the 126 th. He lost to Kathleen A. Wolfe.
In the 1997 primary election for City Council District 5, he defeated Cecilia Zuber.
He defeated Democrat Christopher Jones in the 1997 general election and took the seat in January 1998.
In the 1999 mayoral primary, he beat Louis R. Perugini. But he lost the general election by 268 votes to Democrat Joseph D. Eppihimer.
He ran unopposed for the Republican nomination for his council seat in May 2001. In November he lost to Democrat Donna Reed.
